Our Humble Beginnings
In 2005, Jaya Classen and Nancy Waldman, united by motherhood and a shared love for design, embarked on a journey that would lead to the creation of DesignChicks. Their initial collaboration involved 4 am texting sessions between newborn night feedings, sharing Pinterest boards, and navigating DIY playroom makeovers. Soon friends, and friends of friends, began seeking their expertise in furniture selection, colour palettes, and eventually larger renovations. Before long, Nancy and Jaya found themselves spending all of their free time - and more - on design work.

The Pandemic Pivot
When the pandemic struck, Jaya and Nancy realized the need for more flexible work schedules. At the same time, demand for versatile living spaces, home renovations, and home offices was soaring. Leaving behind their former careers, Jaya a marketing executive and Nancy an Occupational Therapist, they devoted themselves entirely to DesignChicks. DesignChicks now offers full-scale renovations and new builds.
